for the board

thank you for your time.

this project is the result of years of reading and struggling with ideas in business and economics. (this is my baby - don’t judge).what i hope from you is your skills and expertise. with our separate colors, we can paint a beautiful painting.

  • the_11 - primary board - is strictly for internal operations (of course, any recommendations are seriously considered).

  • the sincere hope is that the board see this as their organization. as a democratic organization, your vision will likely turn into processes/action (you’ve been selected because you’re well suited for this endeavor).

  • as owner of this operations, I primarily see myself as a middleman between vision and operations - and as a collaborator for all people involved. I have a vision, one that I want to stay true to, though this is a flexible organization with innovation, community, and longevity in mind.

  • the progression: in simplest terms, all we have to do to get started is procure the board, launch the mobile app, and create a collaboration platform. of course the things that seem the simplest can be complex. for instance, creating a standardized business model and marketing model for our client projects - or a standard work paradigm for coders. the simple things add up, and these decisions are what we hope the board will help resolve and find creative and productive solutions for.

What’s Going On…

COLLABORATION :: our platform brings people together. our board helps develop technical operations as well as provide creative vision. our robust back-end - atlassian products & coda.io - handles all documentation and project management. and, of course, our open-source collaborators get to have all the fun. with all the collaborating we’re doing - and the collaborating on collaboration management - we hope to create a democratic organization always getting better, smarter, and more fun.

COMMUNITY :: things don’t matter without people. our community functions as a link between “smart people” and laymen (if you’re offended by the distinction, don’t worry, I consider myself a laymen). bringing creatives, academics, and biz pros together, we hope our app-users will have lots to read, learn, and engage with. second to that, we hope to be a source of intelligent and engaging reporting from the world of economics - from finance to development to the economics of paper (like the ones in your printer), our “blog system” hopes to engage a segmented audience of lovers of all things biz and econ.

the intention is for the board to monitor and help develop all internal affairs. as we are democratic - and you have been sought for your expertise - we anticipate your contribution to be priceless. from operations to growth plans to anticipating problems - in many ways, this project is in your hands.

egalitarian & democratic

the board: collaborate on collaboration

& collaborate on building community

this has everything you need to know

sample board priorities/responsibilities

  • create standard procedure for coding project management and biz "tings" - biz plans, marketing plans, etc.

  • "limitations are set, only then can we go all the way, all the way"
    - john frusciante, guitarist, red hot chili peppers

limitations can sometimes be benefit. for instance: limitations on contributors to a project, cap on open-source collaborators, cap on projects, etc.

this can help guide our vision and keep us focusing on quality over quantity.

  • how do we remunerate projects that go commercial - or receive payments for our contribution? do we create a "board system for our projects? how are they remunerated? lots of decisions - and that's what we need you for.

  • how often should we produce live content? what should we offer in our courses? lots of ideas, but crystallizing these with our vision and at the same time making them informative and intelligent for the public - that's a balancing act we need to fine tune.

  • a tentative timeline is below. but we need to refine in. in fact, we should always have a timeline - of course that's a critical part of having goals. setting goals and timelines is a critical way to progress. your guidance in this endeavor is critical.

order_of_ops…

once you register, you will be onboarded to a membership site. this site will serve as a convenient hub… with links to all tools we use and a digital welcome package. it will also - in the future - function as a hub for all important board documents. it is simp & functional.

the following is a list of people contacted to be on the board. as people commit, the list will be updated. it also has a detail on why they are someone we want. just so you have the parameters to get an idea of who we’re looking for and what we’re trying to do.
